Looking for some great last minute date ideas for Valentine’s Day?  This year, instead of spending a small fortune on an expensive dinner in a crowded restaurant, surprise your honey with these 10 unique inexpensive Valentine’s Day date ideas that will blow him away!

Pack an elegant picnic.

If the weather permits, pack up a full Valentine’s dinner in a picnic basket. Find a secluded spot near a lake or creek with a grill if possible. Set the scene with a white tablecloth, cloth napkins, and wine glasses (your can find plastic glasses that look like glass.)

Instead of the usual burgers and hotdogs, bring some steaks and/or lobster tails to cook on the grill. You can usually get decent steaks for about $8 each, and 2 lobster tails for around $12 each. You’ll enjoy a 5 star dinner for less than $60.

Enlarge your favorite couple selfie.

Surprise him with by having your favorite couple selfie blown up into a large picture. Have it framed and hang in your living room or bedroom.

Create a “love nest” in your bedroom.

Decorate your bedroom with lots of flowers, scented candles, and rose petals. Make it look like a honeymoon suite at a famous resort. Have a bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket. You can either set this up in your home and lead him to a gift. Here in Central Texas, there are wineries and breweries popping up all over the area. If your area has a few wineries or breweries nearby, visit a few and do a wine tasting or beer and food pairing. Exploring new things together is a great way to keep the fun and romance alive.

Buy an inexpensive cork board and start pinning your goals and dreams to it. It could be pictures of places you want to visit, pictures of your dream house, your wedding or honeymoon, where you want to retire…. the sky’s the limit!

Sip some drinks and have fun dreaming. Don’t discuss the “how” or limit anything. Just let the dreams flow, no matter how crazy they are! Not only will you have fun, you’ll might learn something new about each other.

Sign up for a dance class.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted to learn Latin and ballroom dancing. It just looks so elegant and romantic, don’t you think? It requires couples to really focus on each other.

It’s especially true with the Latin dances… you can see and feel the desire expressed in the moves. Even if you have 2 left feet, the experience of learning something together can strengthen your bond. It might also create some funny memories, too!

Have a 3 course meal–each course at a different location.

Start out with drinks and an appetizer at one of your favorite places or a new place you’ve been wanting to try. Instead of rushing through, leisurely enjoy your drinks and a share a small appetizer. Then head to the next restaurant to enjoy your main course meal. Finally, walk or drive to your final destination for dessert. You could either do this with your tried-and-true favorite places, or be adventurous and try out 3 new restaurants all in one evening.
